Volunteering

Interested in Helping? If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, or would like to find out more about Millis's & The Jersey Centre for Separated Families , please contact us.

Volunteers need to possess the following qualities:

Discretion
Impartiality
Caring
Enthusiasm
Tolerance
Reliability
Sensitivity

It is also extremely useful if you have an understanding of family breakdown and/or experience of working with children.

What we ask of you at Millis-

You will be part of a team that:-
• Helps prepare the centre in advance of clients arriving
• Welcome new clients and help settle them in
• Generally ensure the well-being of all users
• Assist parents wherever needed
• Tidy up at the end of the session

Volunteers are required to assist at the centre one Sunday every 3 to 4 weeks and possibly one afternoon/evening during the week. As a volunteer you will be required to undertake the minimum of two training sessions per year and all volunteers are invited to attend regular meetings and asked to help set up and participate at fund raising and/or promotional events.

To apply to become a volunteer please contact us in the first instance to check whether we have spaces available to take on volunteers. If we have any vacancies we will arrange to send you an application form together with other information about Milli’s and volunteering with us. Once we have received your application form you will be contacted to arrange an interview and if successful you will then be asked to undertake an enhanced DBS check, attend and complete the Essential First Aid for All Ages Course and attend and complete the Child Protection Committee Foundation Course prior to commencing at the centre.

Most of our volunteers have completed 5 year service and are well on their way to joining those who have already completed 10 years service, a testament in itself and you too could become part of a very special team.
